We begin our hike in the small mountain village of Polyneri, following an uphill trail that leads us to the ridge of Vrachonas. From there, we continue along a forest dirt road toward the abandoned village of Vrachonas, where the remains of traditional stone houses from the 18th and 19th centuries still stand \u2014 silent witnesses of a bygone era.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Throughout this approximately 13-kilometer route, you\u2019ll have the opportunity to observe the typical Mediterranean flora of the region, including olive trees, sage, oregano, and thyme.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\nVikos Gorge is well known to most Hikers, as it is the deepest Gorge in the World, in proportion to length, width, height, and is listed in the Guinness book.\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nThe hike in the Gorge lasts from 6 to 8 hours. This depends on the number of participants and their experience.\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n

Rare species of flora and fauna find refuge in the area. The Gorge is 11 km long. In many places its depth exceeds 1000 meters.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Rafting is a team sport that you do on an inflatable boat down a river. The boat has a certified professional guide from (I.R.F.)<\/p>\r\n

Via Ferrata or Mountain Climbing, or Iron Trail, is an outdoor activity that you do on Mountain Trails from mountain and rock slopes<\/span><\/p>\r\n

River Trekking is the crossing of a river on foot (in water level conditions where this is possible) without vessels<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Kayaking \u2013 Sit on top (open type) is an activity that takes place at sea, in the lake and in easy rivers. In kayaks \u2013 Sit on top (open type)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mountain biking means off-road cycling, often on uneven terrain, with specially designed mountain bikes. <\/span><\/span>The special features<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

The difference between simple hiking and mountain hiking is significant, it has to do with the motivations we ask for<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n
